With its extensive know-how of skeletonisation and crafting components in sapphire crystal (Al2O3) attained through research for the RM 018 ‘Hommage to Boucheron’, featuring a baseplate and bridge of this material, as well as in the case of the RM 056 for the creation of the RM 56-01 with its remarkable transparent movement, the brand used this expertise to create something extraordinary.
Designed with sapphire crystal at its baseplate – able to support the manual winding tourbillon movement – Richard Mille allows ample light to pass through the calibre RM56-01, presenting hours and minutes, power-reserve and torque at 11 o’clock and 2 o’clock respectively, alongside a function selector indicator at 4 o’clock. To attain extreme transparency in a titanium movement, engineers also utilized sapphire crystal for the central bridge and third wheel. Boasting impeccable stability and chronometric performance unaffected by temperature change or wear, the RM56-01 combines sapphire crystal and titanium to create an innovative creation.
